  6.  #1-10 It is no abatement of their guilt by whom an offence
  7.  comes, nor will it lessen their punishment that offences will
  8.  come. Faith in God's pardoning mercy, will enable us to get over
  9.  the greatest difficulties in the way of forgiving our brethren.
  10.  As with God nothing is impossible, so all things are possible to
  11.  him that can believe. Our Lord showed his disciples their need
  12.  of deep humility. The Lord has such a property in every
  13.  creature, as no man can have in another; he cannot be in debt to
  14.  them for their services, nor do they deserve any return from
  15.  him.

  18.  #11-19 A sense of our spiritual leprosy should make us very
  19.  humble whenever we draw near to Christ. It is enough to refer
  20.  ourselves to the compassions of Christ, for they fail not. We
  21.  may look for God to meet us with mercy, when we are found in the
  22.  way of obedience. Only one of those who were healed returned to
  23.  give thanks. It becomes us, like him, to be very humble in
  24.  thanksgivings, as well as in prayers. Christ noticed the one who
  25.  thus distinguished himself, he was a Samaritan. The others only
  26.  got the outward cure, he alone got the spiritual blessing.

  29.  #20-37 The kingdom of God was among the Jews, or rather within
  30.  some of them. It was a spiritual kingdom, set up in the heart by
  31.  the power of Divine grace. Observe how it had been with sinners
  32.  formerly, and in what state the judgments of God, which they had
  33.  been warned of, found them. Here is shown what a dreadful
  34.  surprise this destruction will be to the secure and sensual.
  35.  Thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.
  36.  When Christ came to destroy the Jewish nation by the Roman
  37.  armies, that nation was found in such a state of false security
  38.  as is here spoken of. In like manner, when Jesus Christ shall
  39.  come to judge the world, sinners will be found altogether
  40.  regardless; for in like manner the sinners of every age go on
  41.  securely in their evil ways, and remember not their latter end.
  42.  But wherever the wicked are, who are marked for eternal ruin,
  43.  they shall be found by the judgments of God.

  50.  #1-8 All God's people are praying people. Here earnest
  51.  steadiness in prayer for spiritual mercies is taught. The
  52.  widow's earnestness prevailed even with the unjust judge: she
  53.  might fear lest it should set him more against her; but our
  54.  earnest prayer is pleasing to our God. Even to the end there
  55.  will still be ground for the same complaint of weakness of
  56.  faith.
